Bet on gold, that is the opinion of many knowledgable investors lately. To wit, a recent article that appeared in Yahoo Finance trumpets the allure for gold: According to US Bancorp (USB), gold “has never been more compelling.”
Bet on Gold, says USB
Details from the Yahoo Finance article include:
- Gold has likely entered the early stages of a bull-run according to UBS’s Joni Teves.
- “Key drivers include: 1) low/negative real rates, 2) the view that the dollar has peaked against [developed market] currencies, and 3) lingering macro risks.”
- Teves believes that the story for gold today is “more compelling than ever.”
UBS is not alone in making a strong bet on gold
The Yahoo Finance Article goes on to say that it’s not just USB who is placing a strong bet on gold. Spokesmen from HCSB and Credit Suisse also have been extolling the case for gold ownership. Michael Slifirski of Credit Suisse recently stated that “We see gold increasing through 2016, averaging $1,475/oz in 4Q-16, $1,500/oz in 1Q-17 and an avg. $1,450/oz in 2017.”
